About the Program
Georgetown in Salamanca’s Healthcare program offers students with an established health sciences and/or medical background three thematic courses: Medical Spanish, Health Communication, and Comparative Health Systems. Depending on their Spanish level, students will also take courses at the Universidad de Salamanca (USAL) and the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (UPSA) or at the Cursos Internacionales study center.
is located 130 miles northwest of Madrid with a population of 180,000. This city is rich in history, culture, and tradition. There is an abundance of historic monuments such as the Puente Romano, the Plateresque University façade, the Roman Old Cathedral, and the Gothic New Cathedral. Salamanca is well known for its prestigious university and its stimulating intellectual and cultural environment.

Language of instruction is Spanish.
Fields of study include: Biology, Philosophy, Psychology, Religion/Theology, Sociology, Spanish
You are required to enroll in a full courseload and complete all exams and assignments associated with the course regardless of the credit you wish to receive on the program. Withdrawal from a course or failure to take/complete a final will be regarded as an unauthorized reduction in courseload and a violation of the academic policy.
A full courseload for this program is: 15-17 credits; 5 courses at Georgetown
If you have completed Advanced Spanish II
you will take the following courseload:
- Comparative Health Care Systems
- Medical Spanish or Health Communication
- Three (3) direct enrollment courses from USAL or UPSA
If you have completed Advanced Spanish I you will take the following courseload:

The minimum passing grade for this program is: 5 out of 10 on the Spanish grading scale; C on the U.S. grading scale
You are required to live in program housing.
You have two housing options:
- Homestay: You will have your own room and receive three meals a day
- Student Residence: rooms and meal plans vary
